Super Spiritual — all the workshops, parties, festivals and vacations that feed your heart and inspire your soul.
Niching Contest Participant Comments:
3/10: If you put something like “a calendar showing all the workshops, parties . . . ” it’d take it from a 3 to a 9 or 10 for me.
10/10: Clear tagline.
4/10: What kind of workshops, parties, festival, and vacations? I don’t really understand.
7/10: This looks fun, but I don’t really get it. From a glance and a quick read, I don’t understand who you’re reaching out to, I could personally use more clarity in the message.
4/10: I have no idea who you are wanting to work with? Do you provide a service? It is a great photo, full of energy that captures my attention but it leaves me confused.
2/10: What I get from this is that you are spiritual people who want to have fun, which is all good; however, this comes across more like a meet-up invite than a business thing.
6/10: I love the fun of this — but not sure what you offer. Do you put on workshops, parties, etc? do you help others with theirs? Not sure what I’d know exactly what you offer.
7/10: I kinda get it, but have to read and reread a bit to wrap my head around what that actually means.
7/10: Great concept, and it sounds like a blast, but without Erik’s explanation, I have no idea where these events would be located or what kind of person would be interested in them. Is there a certain spirituality, or a particular age group that you are targeting? (I know that 120 characters is pretty tough to work with!)
4/10: Not sure what it is about at all.
4/10: I don’t really understand what you are offering, and I am not really sure who this applies to.
8/10 – I would edit the text a bit. Make “mom’s” read “moms” and there is something about the “I did it” that makes me wonder. Do all pregnant mothers want that, or maybe something more general about making the best choices for herself and her baby. (I’m sorry, not coming up with anything stellar here, even though I’ve had five babies myself, lol!).
6/10: On one hand I’m clear about your statement, on the other I don’t get it. Somehow “super spiritual” sounds ironic, which is great and promise a lot of fun. Don’t get me wrong, I love fun and do agree that it may inspire and feed souls. Also, spirituality doesn’t need to be “serious,” I love laughing yoga. The point is I am not clear what I may expect.
2/10: I am left wondering if you are in a business I need to know about, like, “are these my people?”
5/10: Sorry guys, I don’t get what you are doing, but I would be curious enough to check your website. My guess: You organise somehow “different” parties, workshops, etc . . . I would have called it “Super Inspirational” can’t connect the word “spiritual” with it. All the best for you and your business — super inspirational.
4/10: I felt the message was confusing. Was the “super spiritual” tongue in cheek (I assume so!) but I’m not actually sure what is being offered.
6/10: “All the workshops, parties, festivals and vacations . . . ” is very broad. I’m not sure who your customer is or what you offer exactly.
Erik Arendonk’s Reflections:
Thanks for your response. Though of course I’m somewhat disappointed by a mere 3 points I do understand that I could have been more clear on things. Somehow I felt resistance in using the word calendar, but that basically is what it is. An event calendar for all the “spiritual” or “conscious” events here in the Netherlands. That is ambitious enough in itself! The website should give an answer to the question: “what’s going on this weekend, week or month in Dutch spiritual scene.” Or, for example, “if I would like to do a yoga retreat this month what options do I have?” The calendar software imports all the Facebook events that I receive and people also can submit their own events manually. So by only changing a couple of words this would be an 8? I do very much like your suggestion. Only for this competition I wrote it in English, Basically it is only for the Netherlands or at least for events that are hosted in the Dutch. So I agree, something like: “The no. 1 hub for all the workshops, parties, festivals and vacations that inspire your heart and feed your soul” would be way better. I haven’t really thought out yet were the money should come from, but I suppose If I can bring in the traffic there are ways to make money. At the moment there are about 3000 visitors a month, without me actually doing that much for it, except for maybe an hour a week or so. I suppose if I really would put some serious energy into I can make this work, really becoming the No. 1 hub here in the Netherlands. I will install version 2 of the calendar software which actually has some mayor improvements and new functionality’s within a few weeks, e.g. all the events plotted on Google maps and auto tweeting an event x hours before it starts. Now back to the niche thing. Personally I do not like the words “heart” and “soul” that much, mostly because everyone is using these words to promote their “conscious” business.
The Revised Niche:
Super Spiritual — the no 1 conscious calendar that lists all events that may bring enlightenment one step closer.
