Tad’s Comments:

This one is a bit sneaky because you got the “what” under the photo, technically outside of the 120 characters. If I didn’t know this was a preschool I’d love it but have no idea what exactly was going on and I’d have to give it a 6. Knowing it’s an outdoor preschool? It’s a 10.

This is a great example of a niche that’s based 100% on what’s being offered and not who it’s being offered to. It’s an example of what I call “implicit target markets.” Who are your target markets here? People who are craving for the foundation of their child’s education to be a deep connection to the natural world. So simple. If parents are into that, they’ll want to send their kids there. If not, they won’t. Simple. Easy. In your case, you won’t just have one target market. There will be many types of folks. Waldorf parents, vegetarians, hunters, nature lovers, herbalists etc. What they all share? They want what you’re offering.

Niching Contest Participant Comments:

10/10: I can already think of new moms who’d probably love to know more about your work! Outdoor Preschool, yeah!

10/10: Very clear niche. In Germany, we have forest “kindergarten” where children spend the whole day outside. And it works! Perhaps not for every child, but for many. I guess your idea goes in this direction?

10/10: This is excellent. Concise yet descriptive language.

10/10: Love it in all ways.

10/10: Clear, concise and delivers.

10/10: Clear as a bell to me – makes me feel warm and fuzzy! Except that I don’t live in Kamloops, and my daughters are afraid of bugs.

8.5/10: Very sweet and full of delight.

8/10: Awesome! “Outdoor preschool” sounds great, would love to see it as a part of the statement.

9/10: This a great idea, and a sweet niche, I think that child needs an adjective though, to narrow the field a little more – there are some children who do better outside than others.

10/10: LOVE this!

8/10: What do the children learn? Which education do you refer to? I like the idea, great picture.

8/10: Love the idea!

Thank you so much for your kind words everyone. It is so helpful to gain perspective like this. Much gratitude to Tad for providing the opportunity.

Hi Krystal – what a great sum up! I wondered what age range you work with, and of course then the adult to child ratio. Is this supplemental or full-time preschool? Is this for parents who can participate, or for parents who work full-time and need child care preschooling? I love the idea, but as a parent (who is very nature oriented) I would need a little something more to follow your ad and look you up. Best wishes and blessings! This should be the norm, not the exception!
