Tad’s Comments:

7. Sarah, you’re doing such beautiful and important work. I’d give this a solid 7/10. What I get from this is that you’re a doula. Here’s a tricky thing in terms of rating it. In a city like new york with, i’d guess, hundreds of doulas, I might rate this lower because I don’t see what makes you unique. But in Wichita? Maybe I’d rate it higher because there aren’t as many there. Within the larger marketplace, I’d give it a 10/10. Within the doula world, maybe a 2/10 on the uniqueness scale. Regardless, what you’re doing is so needed and I’m grateful on behalf of the more sane and healthy world all the babies you deliver will play some hand in creating having been welcomed into this world so beautifully.

Niching Contest Participant Comments:

8/10: as a former doula myself, I have a biased stance because I love doulas and the work they do! On the niching side though, I’d love to hear what makes you unique. that would seal it at a

10/10. Go out girl and do what you do. Mamas, babies, families and the world needs it.

8/10: I like it Sara! You are beautiful and bright and I would have loved to have someone like you help me with childbirth and my newborns. You may want to set yourself apart a bit by saying that you offer tender care and love or some such thing because I can tell you do. Own your beautiful heart my friend.

7/10: Overall I love this Meme. Pic is great. You clearly have done some work to define your target. This is great. just a few tweaks to take make it more effective. I agree with above. I help “Pregnant women” enjoy an extraordinary, a simple change like “customized support” with a more defined outcome that could speak to their from “pain to pleasure” would help nail it for you too!

8/10: Since you’re talking about pregnant women, it surprises me that it took so many words for that to be revealed. I know you’re all out of characters, but “I help pregnant women” is so much clearer. Since “to their specific needs” is what “tailoring” is FOR, you have a little repetition you can clear up.

8/10:  Is “tailored” and “specific needs” redundant though? You could place the word tailored after “with” an maybe add another specific description? just spit balling ideas.

N/A: I love the image and understand what this service is. I wonder if the message could mention “pregnant women” to make it even more clear. Nice!

7/10: Who you help & what you help them with are crystal clear to me. But agreed, what makes you unique amongst your competitors?

Sara Skiles’s Reflections:

My agenda-free support and professionalism sets me apart from other doulas as I want to help moms experience any type of birth feeling heard, cared for and supported, not just home births or natural births.

The Revised Niche:

I provide customized agenda-free support to help pregnant, birthing & postpartum women enjoy an extraordinary transition to motherhood.
